TMB/WWG XC teams finish 4th in Canby

Lainey Jackels paced the TMB/WWG girls’ cross country team in Canby on Tuesday, with a fourth-place finish at 21:39.9 — another new PR.

“Lainey ran a great race, and it has been a lot of fun watching her compete this year,” TMB/WWG coach Billy Dean said.

Miranda Mischke took home a 10thplace finish with a time of 23:11.8; Evelyn Rentschler was 26th at 26:32.0; Stella Munson was 38th at 32:09.6; Jaeda Nelson ran a PR at 32:18.2; and Payton Daniels was 41st with at time of 37:41.

“All of our girls have been trending in the right direction,” Dean said. “We just need to keep working on confidence and believing that we can run a good competitive 5K.”

For the varsity boys, Taylor Squires was 11th overall as he PR’d at 18:54.9.

“It has been fun seeing Taylor find this success this year,” said Dean. “It has been something we knew as his coaches that he had in him, and now it’s fun to see him finding that success.”

Weston Marten was 21st at 20:00.7, and Owen Beier was right behind with a time of 20:02.7.

Other Panther varsity runners were Noah Schmidt (25th at 20:05.2); Jackson Jenniges (30th at 20:40.5); Zach Jones (36th at 21:04.6); Tyson Petersen (48th at 22:56.3); Sam Wiborg (52nd at 24:33.6); Karson Schneider (53rd at 24:53.9); Gatlin Struchen (54th at 24:59.6); and Jaxter Pfarr (58th at 25:37.3).

Both Panther varstiy teams finished fourth overall.

“We had another good showing at our meet in Canby,” Dean said. “The Canby course is very tough, with a few small hills, and couple big hills. The weather conditions were great for running and we performed pretty well as team.

In the boys’ 2,000-meter race, Max Swick took fifth at 7:48; Colin Nelson was 10th at 8:34.7; Trenton Daniels took 11th at 8:42.5; Keagan Jenniges was 19th at 9:18; Trajan Swanjord was 31st at 11:16.8; Justin Hernandez was 37th at 12:53.7; and Cohen Radke was 39th at 14:31.3.
