Panther runners had to deal with a wet and chilly day in Canby on Tuesday.
“Our runners did a great job of embracing it and finding a way to perform with the tough elements,” TMB/WWG coach Billy Dean said.
The TMB/WWG boys took third place among eight teams.
Taylor Squires (19:08) paced the boys with an 11th-place finish, and Owen Beier (19:22, PR), and Weston Marten (19:27) also ran a sub-20.
“It is nice to see some of our top runners getting under the 20-minute mark,” said Dean. “Our next goal is to have this group get below the 19-minute mark.”
Jackson Jenniges (20:28) and Tyson Peterson (22:34) both had season best times; Sam Wiborg had a new PR of 22:38; and Noah Schmidt ran a 20:14.9.
Other runners were Karson Schneider (54th at 24:53.9; Gatlin Struchen (54th at 24:59.6); and Jaxter Pfarr (58th at 25:37.3) “This group of boys has been working hard in practice and it has been showing,” said Dean. “We still have a lot of room to grow and get better as a team, but I am extremely proud of where they have come so far.”
Lainey Jackels once again led the varsity girls with a race of 21:39.9, good for fourth place.
Miranda Mischke had a Top 10 finish as well, with a PR 23:11.8. Evelyn Rentschler was 26th at 26:32.9; Stella Munson finished 38th at 32:09.6 (PR); Jaeda Nelson was 39th at 32:09.6 (PR); and Payton Daniels was 41st at 37:41, a PR for her.
“The girls did a great job of battling through the tough conditions,” Dean said.
For the girl JV runners, Allie Duscher ran an 8-flat for 1,600 meters, which was good for a ninthplace finish. Josie Birman finished 20th at 10:54.9; Jayda Snyder was 23rd at 11:14.3; and Trinidi Knudson was 29th at 14:24.2 On the boys’ side, Max Swick led the way with 6:12 1-mile time, good for second place. Colin Nelson (7:17), Trenton Daniels (7:25), and Keagan Jenniges (7:29) all ran well in the cold and rain, Dean said.
Trajan Swanjord was 31st at 11:16.8; Vincent Munson was 34th at 12:11.7; Justin Hernandez was 37th at 12:53.7; and Cohen Radke finished 39th at 14:41.3 “We have a really good young group of runners,” said Dean. “If they keep working hard and stick together, I am excited to see what the future brings for them in cross country.”
The Panthers will run in Windom on Monday.
