School district conducting survey on school facility projects

The past several months the Tracy Area School District has been thoughtfully considering a variety of needed facility updates.

This includes updates to the main entrance at the elementary school and additional space to allow for a separate gym and cafeteria. At the high school, there is a need for additional gym and collaboration space as well as updates to the science rooms.

“We work hard to maintain our facilities to ensure a safe learning environment and to serve both our students and communities,” said TAPS Supt. Chad Anderson. “Each year we complete a few projects with funds available within our general operating budget. We are now at a point where we have identified some needs that are greater than what our operating budget can support, and therefore are looking to see where the community is at as far as supporting an investment in our schools.”

The District is conducting a community-wide survey to gather input on the potential projects. The District has some funding remaining from the 2022 facility updates to fund a portion of the projects, but will need voter approval to use these funds, as well as voter support for a bond referendum.

The online survey link can be found on the District’s website or by visiting bit.ly/ taps_survey .

A paper survey can also be printed from the District’s website. If you desire a survey to be mailed to you call (507) 629-5500. The survey will be open until October 15, 2026.

Survey results will be shared at the Oct. 19 school board meeting.
