Austin Scarset, a former Westbrook-Walnut Grove graduate and wrestling standout, will be inducted into the Augustana University Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 23 at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Scarset finished his high school wrestling career with a 170-30 record. He was a fourtime state entrant, including an undefeated 35-0 season when he captured a Class A state championship.
He went on to wrestle at Augustana University, where he became a three-time NCAA Division II All-American at 157 pounds, placing seventh, fourth and fourth nationally. He was also the 2003 North Central Conference (NCC) Champion and a member of the 2004-05 Augustana team that won both the NCC and regional championships before finishing as national runner-up.
Scarset concluded his collegiate career with a 100-40 record, becoming one of just 20 wrestlers in Augustana program history to reach the 100-win milestone. He also ranks 10th on the program’s all-time list with 259 career takedowns. Over the course of his career, he recorded three seasons with more than 20 victories and compiled a 28-10 record in dual competition.
