Join SJMiller Arts and the Lyon County Historical Society Museum for Pages of the Prairie, a collaborative art project celebrating creativity, community, and personal storytelling.
The workshop is from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 at the museum in downtown Marshall.
Using collage, mixed media, and a variety of found and decorative papers, participants will create unique journal pages inspired by their own memories, experiences, and connections to the community. Each page will become part of a larger collective artwork, bringing individual voices together in one handmade book. Following the workshops, artist SammyJo Miller will assemble and handbind the contributed pages into a finished community junk journal for the museum. No previous art experience is necessary, and all materials are provided. This is a free program, but registration is requested. Register and find details online at www.SJMillerArts.com/events This activity is funded in part with a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council made possible by the voters of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
Come to one workshop or both; each session offers an opportunity to contribute to the community journal.
