DAVID LEHNHOFF
I have decided to run for Balaton City Council. I was raised on a farm just 6 miles west of Balaton, attended and graduated from Russell Public School. My wife and I have lived in Balaton for the past 38 years. We raised our three children in Balaton and they graduated from Balaton Public School. I served in the United States Army, I was stationed in a number of military posts in the United States prior to being deployed to South Vietnam. Upon returning home from the military service my wife Ruth and I were married. We farmed with my parents for about 10 years. I attended a twoyear post-secondary school in which I obtained an associate’s degree in accounting. With that education I was employed by the Southwest, West Central Service Cooperative in Marshall, MN. I was then employed by RTR Public Schools as business manager for 27 years, up until my retirement. I have over 30 years of combined experience in governmental account, and business management. I have previously served two nonconsecutive terms on the Balaton City Council.
Why did you decide to run for a seat on the council?
I have decided to run for city council, because I want to be a part of the decision-making process. The city of Balaton will be faced with some very important decision in the near future. The day-to-day operations of running the city of Balaton is only a part of the city council’s responsibility. Developing a plan to finance the replacement of city streets and infrastructure will prove to have challenges of its own. While there is a substantial amount of work ahead. I want to ensure we move forward at a pace that remains financially sustainable for our taxpayers.
I would appreciate your vote on November 3, 2026.
