Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

May 3, 1955 — Tracy’s Redwood County League baseball team won its opener over Balaton, 17-14, in a three-hour marathon. Jerome Mickelson, just home from the Army pitched 4-2/3 innings. Eddie McFarlane finished the game.

May 6, 1965 — The Tracy Engineers opened the season at Legion Field with a 4-1 loss to Cottonwood. Shorty Engel and Roger Flatequal drew the pitching assignments. Tracy’s only counter was a homer by Merle Mickelson.

May 1, 1975 — Righthander Brian Johnson hurled a twohit shutout over Minneota in Tracy’s 6-0 win in the first game of the season.

May 2, 1985 — The Tracy baseball team came up against some tough competition last week winning once and losing twice. In the first game, Tracy dropped a heart-breaker to a strong Sleepy Eye crew, 3-2. Greg Shaw was the losing pitcher. He had thrown a nohitter up to the 7th inning.

May 3, 1995 — Panther tracksters swept both the boys’ and girls’ divisions in the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton meet held in Tracy. Bridget Smith, the only senior on the team, was a double individual winner with medals in the long jump and triple jump. Dave Greenman was a double individual winner for the Panther boys, winning the 100 and 200 meter dash.

May 4, 2003 — Mariah Schelhaas led the offensive parade, going 5-for-5 with two doubles and 8 RBI as TMB completed a twin killing of CMCS, 24-10. Lynn Brockway was 4-5 with a homer and a triple.

May 6, 2015 — A three-run sixth brought TMB back from a 6-5 deficit in an 8-6 win over Wabasso. Taylor Carlson led a seven-hit attack with a 3-for-4 day at the plate.
