Elaine Frances Meyer Buesing Holland Asman was born on July 14, 1935, in Alta, IA to Herbert and Elsie (Molgaard) Meyer.
Elaine graduated from Tracy High School in 1953 and attended South Dakota State University in Brookings for two years. After her schooling, Elaine moved to Minneapolis where she worked as an Accountant. On January 5, 1957, Elaine was united in marriage to Wallace Buesing. Together they lived and farmed near Amiret and were blessed with five children. Wallace passed away suddenly on February 4, 1969. Several months later Elaine and her five children moved to Tracy where she began working as a bank teller at Tracy Bank. On November 14, 1970, Elaine remarried. She and Howard Holland exchanged wedding vows at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin.
For the next 15 years, they lived south of Garvin on a farm near Lake Sarah. In 1985, Elaine and Howard moved off the farm into Slayton where Howard worked as Head Groundskeeper for the Slayton Golf Course and Elaine was the Clubhouse Manager. Howard passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 1991, while vacationing in Arizona and left her widowed a second time. Elaine continued to live in Slayton, then 5 years later on January 27, 1996, Elaine and Charles “Charlie” Asman were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Elaine remained living in Slayton until September 2023 and then moved to O’Brien Court in Tracy. Elaine’s favorite lifelong hobby was sewing; she was an artist with a needle and thread. From a young age, she had mastered the art of needlework designing beautiful embroidery, cross stitch and needle point pieces. Elaine was a quilter and had a passion for creating and gifting quilts that are cherished by family and friends. Her quilts were not just fabric; they were expressions of love, a symbol of care and affection. Elaine took pride in the meticulous details of each stitch, and her quilts were treasured for their beauty and comfort. Her passion for sewing led her to establish her business The Cloth Shop in Tracy. Elaine was proud to have served for nearly 20 combined years on the Tracy and Slayton School Boards. Elaine enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, golfing, playing Bridge, volunteering for Murray County Hospice, reading and traveling. Her greatest joy was her family.
