Excerpts from past Tracy newspapers 

May 26, 1955 — Tracy high school baseball team got off on the right foot in the Spring baseball tournament, winning the first game of its playoff series Wednesday night by beating Ivanhoe, 7-2. Brekken was the star hitter of the tilt going 3 for 4, including a resounding triple. B. Hanson and Gregoire each collected 2 hits, and Mickelson pitched 6-hit ball.

May 27, 1965 — The Tracy track team split its last two meets, vanquishing a Springfield team here Friday 83 to 30, and then on Tuesday afternoon, losing to a strong Windom aggregation here 64 to 54. Nick Kurtz, who has been doing an outstanding job this season, leaped to a new school broad jump record of 22 feet, one-half inch in the Windom meet here Tuesday.

May 22, 1975 — Tuesday at Minneota the scores were Marshall 150, Minneota 160. and Tracy 182. Scores for Tracy: Keith Hannasch 43. Dave Peterson 44. Jack Lau 46, Kyle Marvel 49, Mark Sebastian 51 and Tom Dobson 56.

May 23, 1985 — Tracy was lead offensively by Mark Heidebrink and Steve Jones, who each gathered three hits in a 15-13 slugfest win. Jon Haecherl collected a double and a single, and Kevin Larsen drove in three runs. David Engesser got credit for the win, striking out 9 while walking 9.

May 24, 1995 — The Panther track girls turned in some outstanding individual performances. But the squad didn’t exhibit enough depth to go to the top of the Minnesota Class A True Team track meet, held at the National Sports Training Facility in Blaine. The Panthers won four of 17 events, and were leading the meet after the first six events.

Outstanding sophomores Kris DeRuyck and Leah Gifford were involved in all four firstplaces.

May 25, 2005 — Tracy/ Milroy/Balaton won the 212 Conference baseball championship with a 9-5 win over KMS at Tracy last Friday by a score of 9-5. The victory closed out their conference schedule with 10-4 record.

The conference baseball title was TMB’s first since 2001.

David Schmidt led the nine-hit Panther attack with a pair of hits. Other hits were recorded by Donald Strand, Derek Radke, Matt Bauer, Derek Daniels, Paul Carlson, Brett Jackson and Andy Nelson.

May 27, 2015 — Sixteen, four-person teams competed in the second annual “Rip It Open” Golf tournament at the Tracy Country Club. Teams played an 18-hole best ball format with eight-inch cups on the putting green. The Ryan Hemmingsen team took top honors with a score of 16 under par. Jim Orren’s team took second. Longest drives went to Adam Kindt and Makayla Meier. Mary Munson had the longest putt on hole four. Closest to the pin on hole eight was Jim Van.
