Council members — lead by example
Ordinances — we all know Tracy has plenty of which should be reviewed and enforced.
We have one that says don’t blow your grass clippings into the street. In ends up in our storm sewer. Small problem? It is until it becomes a large one. Then the City workers have to deal with it. Like most times, it’s a holiday, weekend or late at night.
That calls for extra pay, which they are entitled to. But who pays? The taxpayers.
So when you see a council member mow and blow their clippings into the street, it’s sad. You have to ask: Don’t they know? Weren’t you at the meeting? Don’t they care? Or maybe they as a council member are exempt!
Common sense — lead by example.

Don’t let Trump disarm the courts
Dear fellow citizens. I am writing in regards to a provision that has been placed into this “Big Bill” that could disarm the U.S. Supreme Court and all of the courts in our country.
This opinion was written by Erwin Chemerinsky who is a law professor at the University of California at the Berkeley School of Law. This provision that was conveniently placed into this bill would limit the ability of courts — including the Supreme Court — from enforcing their orders! This provision would make most existing injunctions unenforceable!
If enacted, it would be a stunning restriction on the power of federal courts. Without this authority for federal courts to enforce judicial orders, they are rendered mere advisory opinions which parties are free to disregard! There is no way to understand this except as a way to keep the Trump administration from being restrained when it violates the Constitution or otherwise breaks the law. This would limit judicial power. This “hidden” provision in the bill would make Trump king or a dictator with unlimited, unchecked power. No Congress or court could stop him, even if a future Congress tried to, it could not without the power of the courts to enforce their hearings, investigations, subpoenas and laws!
Is this what we envision our United States becoming? A dictatorship under one person who can disregard our courts and literally do anything he wishes to do? With having unchecked power? I think people need to be aware of this. This bill has already been passed in the House. The only thing that might stop it now is for the Senate to completely throw this provision out of this Bill. Delete it completely!
He is already acting like a dictator with the U.N. voting with Russia, North Korea and Iran. And now a military parade for his birthday that is going to cost the taxpayers millions of dollars to show off his strength and power. I would encourage the Senate to really have a closer read and look at what you’re voting on, and what you are giving this man for unchecked power. Once this bill is passed with this provision in its, it will be too late to undo. You will have destroyed our Republic and our democracy!
I encourage everyone to contact not only your senators but senators in other districts to make them aware that, as a concerted citizen, you oppose this provision in this “Big Bill” that the House has already passed. You can find addresses and phone numbers on the Internet. If you try to email them it will not go through if you do not live in their district.
Yes, it will take some effort to write and physically mail a letter, but think of the consequences that are before our country regarding the provision in this bill.
