Travelers should allow extra time on Highway 23 and Highway 7 as a roughly $2.48 million project to update centerline pavement markings begins June 9, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will install centerline rumble strips and in-ground wet reflective striping. The four-lane roadway south of Marshall will also receive shoulder rumble strips. The pavement markings are being updated as part of a regular maintenance cycle to meet current safety standards. The project is expected to take 20 working days, depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.
Crews will complete work in the following order.
• Highway 23 from north of Marshall to south of Cottonwood
• Highway 23 from Russell to Marshall
• Highway 7 from Montevideo to Clara City Drivers may encounter temporary lane closures with flaggers, as well as slow-moving equipment on the roadway. Expect brief delays when crews are present and allow extra time when traveling these highway segments during the project period.
MnDOT asks travelers to always drive with caution and to slow down in project areas for their safety and the safety of workers. Benefits of the project include enhanced safety as rumble strips alert drivers to lane position and in-ground wet reflective striping is more visible at night and in rainy conditions.
