The Milroy School Board approved the FY26 budget which projects a $292,851 deficit at its regular meeting Monday. While the number may be large, Supt. John Willey cautioned the board that this is a worst case scenario.
When projecting the FY26 budget, the school used conservative numbers since it is moving forward with consolidation with Tracy Area Public Schools for the 26-27 school year.
The budget calls for $1,293,488 in revenue and expenses of $1,586,339. However, despite the projected deficit, the school would still have $600,000 to $700,000 in the fund balance.
The board also approved contracts for Willey, Robin Hauger, Jason Dahl, paraprofessionals and teachers. The teachers’ wages were increased, and all teachers and paras are returning for the final year of Milroy Public School.
Willey also reported on a roof and exterior inspection. The inspection revealed 15-18 leaks on the roof which were patched.
Willey also informed the board the audit will be done earlier this year and presented at an upcoming meeting.
At the May board meeting, the board approved a letter to end the SW/WC membership June 30, 2026, due to upcoming consolidation.
