Yankee hit parade dooms Willmar

The Yankees banged out 19 hits and used a six-run second inning to defeat Willmar 10-7 on Sunday.

After Willmar recorded the first two outs, the next seven Milroy batters reached base — one hit batsmen and six hits, including a triple by David Schmidt, who also doubled in the seventh and scored an insurance run.

Aaron Mathiowetz had four hits, including two doubles, and knocked in three; David Schmidt had a pair of hits, drove in three and scored three runs; and Brock Schultz went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Alex Schuh added three hits and scored twice, and Branden Flock had two singles.

Zac Nuy and David Schuh split the first six innings on the mound. Schuh struck out five in his three innings of work to earn the win.

David Schmidt finished Willmar off with two scoreless innings.

The Yankees are at Raymond Friday and Marshall Sunday before returning home to face Brookings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1.

Their final home game is at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 19.
